Joe Biden and Jill Taylor Jacobs met in 1975. His first wife and young daughter had died in a car crash in 1972 and she had just survived a divorce. Their attraction was instant, but the President proposed five times before the First Lady accepted. They were married in 1977.

The President accepted the party’s nomination at the 2020 Democratic National Convention in August, and in his acceptance speech, he praised Jill as being “An Educator. A mom. A military mom. And an unstoppable force.”

After being sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden and his wife beamed and waved to the media and supporters right before they entered the White House. Photographers were able to capture the moment the President kissed his wife on her forehead through his mask.
